Down traps warm air in its soft clusters, which is why a down parka is so warm for its weight. Arctic Tech is a dense polyester and cotton fabric with a water-repellent finish, and the cotton softens and gains character over time.
It is rated about -10°C to -20°C, so it is made for real cold. In Tbilisi it suits the coldest weeks and trips to the mountains; on milder winter days a lighter jacket is usually enough.
It runs small. The model is 188 cm and wears M. Take your usual size for a close fit, or one size up if you want room for a thick sweater.
The Arctic Tech shell has a water-repellent finish, so snow and light rain do not soak in. Canada Goose does not describe it as fully waterproof.
About the brand
Canada Goose began in Toronto in 1957, when Sam Tick founded Metro Sportswear, the company that later became Canada Goose. It is known for cold-weather parkas such as the Expedition, first made for scientists at McMurdo Station in Antarctica. Its core parkas are still made in Canada.
