Christian Dior opened his couture house on Avenue Montaigne in Paris in 1946. His first collection in February 1947, soon called the New Look, brought back the cinched waist and full skirt after the war. Today the house is known for its Bar jacket, the Lady Dior bag and the J'Adior slingback.
