Lacoste
Lacoste was founded in 1933 by René Lacoste, the French tennis champion the press called 'the Crocodile', together with André Gillier. Their first piece was a petit piqué cotton tennis shirt with a crocodile embroidered on the chest. That shirt, the L.12.12 polo, is still the heart of the house, which has belonged to the Swiss group Maus Frères since 2012.
